Chosen: Marathon for Adoption, has partnered with ABBA Fund & Bethesda Family Ministry to provide a unique opportunity for adoptive families seeking to raise money for their adoptions.
This is a benefit race and by design will give back all proceeds to adoptive families who have been approved through an application process.
All prospective adoptive families desiring to benefit from the race must register your team below and then submit an ABBA Fund Application. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE 10/29/11!! ABBA screens applicants and determines how funds are distributed. Applicant families have two pre-qualifiers for consideration:
1.You must participate in the race, whether by running or volunteering
2.You must be pursuing other means of fund-raising to show your commitment to this endeavor.
If you meet the aforementioned criteria, you then have 3 options affiliated with the race to financially benefit & may pursue all options or any combo you choose. As with most things in life, the more work you are willing to put into the race on the front end, the more you will reap.
Option 1: As an adoptive family, you may raise funds by recruiting your friends & family to run for your team in the race. For example, the “Baxter Family” may form the “Baxter Team.” Register as an individual and enter your team name when prompted here so you have a recognized team. When any person registers, there is a question as to whether or not you are part of a team; your team members would simply select “Baxter Team.” Then, all money from your team members’ registrations would go in the Baxter bucket & be distributed to you after the race. You must apply to receive these funds, so that we are able to verify a true adoption is in motion.
Option 2: You may also write a personal letter to friends & family asking them to financially support you for running in the race to raise funds for your child’s adoption. If you are familiar with Race for the Cure and other benefit races, the idea is similar; donors financially give to benefit the cause and your participation in the race. We have a contribution form you may send with your letter. Donors click here or make their checks out to Bethesda Fund Ministry (one of our partners) and request their funds be allocated toward your team; they are disbursed into your bucket accordingly.
Option 3: All race monies outside of the aforementioned will go into a general fund. Such funds come from race participants who are not adopting or part of a team and from race sponsors. This general fund will be used to help all approved applicant families, whether or not you have formed a team or received donations. ABBA Fund will review applications and based upon approval of your application, you will receive monies after the race, through grants, matching grants and/or interest-free loans.
